Reunited with the Surgeon just released on Kindle Vella

 

 Happy Book Birthday to me! Big news. Not only did Amazon launch its new reading platform Kindle Vella, but Reunited by the Surgeon also released today. Two huge pieces of intel in this reader-and-writer's life.

So what it is Kindle Vella? Thank you for asking. 

Amazon's Kindle Vella is a reading (and writing) platform. It's similar in ways to Wattpad and Radish, insofar as stories are served up in episodes. Together these three story platforms deliver serialized versions of novella and novel-length stories. Unlike the typical book format, authors strive to end each episode with a cliffhanger. 

So while some folks may equate each serialized part to an episode on an TV series, episodic fiction tends (when done well) is like Games of Thrones or Homeland in stopping the episode on a cliff. Or the tried-and-true format that daytime drama aka soap operas follow. Leaving the viewer, and here the reader, wanting more.

How do you download a series or episode?

In Kindle Vella, each episode has a token value. (1 Token = 100 words). So if an episode is 1,254 words, it'll cost 12 Tokens. Episodes range between 500-5000 words (that's the max allowed). 

And best of all, the first three episodes of any story are FREE. As of today, Amazon is giving away 200 Token for reading a story. I'm not sure how long that will last, so grab yours ASAP. Kindle Vella stories are available on the Amazon.com website or the iOS Kindle app (for Apple and iPhone users).
